Bamburgh Castle

Bamburgh Castle from the Beach

Boasting some of the best views in Northumberland, both seaward to the Farne Islands and landward to the Cheviots, Bamburgh certainly earns its title as King of the Castles.

Open all year round a royal welcome awaits visitorswho venture this far north.

Experienced castle guides are to explain the fourteen rooms and some of the castle’s fascinating history as well as pointing out some of the more unusual items in the collection.  There are over three thousand items in the collection from arms and armour to furniture and artwork.

A ‘Keeping the Castle Alive’ programme ensures a series of events and added ‘extras’ takes place throughout the year. The old laundry houses the Armstrong and Aviation Artefacts Museum, shedding some light on the genious Lord Armstrong and the legacy he left behind.
